The Controls/Mechanical HVAC Project Manager is responsible for developing, planning, executing, and closing HVAC projects, specifically focusing on mechanical and BAS controls systems. This role involves managing resources, schedules, financials, and adhering to project management standards and best practices. The Project Manager will work closely with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Description for Internal Candidates
* Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of project management experience required.
* Experience with in the HVAC or mechanical contracting industry strongly preferred.
* Leadership:
* Proven ability to lead and manage HVAC and controls technicians, driving performance, accountability, and technical excellence.
* Communication & Initiative:
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and build client trust.
* Self-starter who works independently, prioritizes effectively, and follows through to deliver results with minimal supervision.
* Financial & Forecasting
Skills:
* Strong ability to forecast budgets, labor, and material needs while maintaining financial oversight throughout the project.
* Technical Knowledge:
* Solid understanding of mechanical HVAC systems, installation, and commissioning.
* Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) preferred.
* Software Proficiency:
* Proficient in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel for scheduling, forecasting, and financial tracking.
* Certifications:
* PMP certification preferred.
* OSHA 30 or equivalent safety credential a plus.
* Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
