BAS Team Lead

Location: Roswell, GA / job sites in the Metro-Atlanta area

Schedule: Onsite

Salary: Up to $125,000 annually

About the Opportunity

Insight Global's client is seeking a Controls Systems Team Lead to oversee Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects and lead a team of controls technicians, installers, and subcontractors. This role combines strong technical HVAC controls expertise with project execution, team leadership, and customer-facing responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of BAS/DDC systems, commissioning, troubleshooting, project financials, and workforce management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support BAS/Controls technicians, installers, and subcontractors across multiple active projects.
• Coordinate manpower, schedules, and resources to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for controls installation, startup, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting issues.
• Partner with Project Managers to review project status, labor forecasts, financial performance, change orders, and risk mitigation plans.
• Attend customer and project meetings to resolve technical and operational issues.
• Review controls drawings, network architecture, sequences of operation, panel layouts, and commissioning plans for technical accuracy.
• Track project progress, safety compliance, documentation, closeout activities, and customer satisfaction.
• Coach, mentor, and develop field technicians through training and career development initiatives.
• Support hiring efforts, workforce planning, and team capacity management.
• Build strong customer relationships while identifying opportunities for additional project and service work.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, including:
  Control sequences, Startup and commissioning, Troubleshooting, System integration
• Experience with: BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus, Building networks and controller architectures
• Experience reviewing:
  Control drawings, Point lists, Network architecture, Panel layouts, Commissioning plans
• Experience supporting project financials, labor forecasting, and change order management.
• Strong customer-facing leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage escalations and drive project recovery efforts when needed.

Preferred Background

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience within BAS, controls, or HVAC automation environments.
• Experience managing multiple field projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of construction project execution and controls operations.
