Job SummaryThe RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high‑quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and supported through the Well Star Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is steered by the Well Star Professional Practice Model, 5‑Star Nursing and evidence‑based practice and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Well Star Core Competencies. All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the RN upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence‑based practice and ensuring individualized care.
- Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that is consistent with population‑specific characteristics and adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
- Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose, keeping the patient’s goals the focus of the plan of care.
- Use current clinical practice standards and teamwork collaboration, coordinating delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration through interdisciplinary communication methods, timely documentation, and a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care.
- Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff to ensure a current and future qualified workforce.
- Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing, including participation in value analysis and data collection.
- Uphold all health‑care system/organizational policies and procedures, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources and perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Diploma (Nurse)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – Preferred
- All certifications required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑State Compact
- BLS – Basic Life Support, ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support, or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
- Minimum 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience.
