Job SummaryRegistered Nurse RN – Acute Care Ortho Surgical – Full‑Time Night Shift
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. The role is conducted in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through Wellstar’s Shared Governance Model and Professional Practice Model.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective partnership coordination.
- Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
- Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for goal setting, including bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching.
- Practices using current clinical practice standards.
- Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a respectful and inclusive clinical environment.
- Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration, practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supporting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participates in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all system levels.
- Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessment and mandatory education, including population‑specific education.
- Serves as preceptor/mentor for other professional nurses and staff/students to build a future qualified workforce.
- Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including value analysis and data collection to address practice questions.
- Plans for patient care across the continuum and supports efficient use of human and material resources.
- Participates in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
- Performs additional duties as assigned and complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Associate’s Nursing or Diploma (RN) Nursing
- Bachelor’s Nursing – Preferred
- RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact
- BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
Minimum 2 years direct patient care nursing experience.
Required Minimum Skills- Ability to read, write and speak English; optimize use of technology to support clinical care; basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure and respect.
- Excellent time management, evidence‑based practice, analytical and critical thinking skills.
