Job Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. RN competencies are derived from the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice and research, and they uphold the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act as well as the Code of Ethics of the American Nurses Association.

- Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective partnership coordination.
- Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that reflects population‑specific characteristics and cultural diversity.
- Partners with patients and significant others—using bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and timely patient teaching—to keep goals central to the plan of care.
- Practices using current clinical practice standards.
- Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model.
- Engages in diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication (rounds, case reviews, etc.) and completes timely documentation.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participates in performance improvement activities, research utilization, and shared governance at all system levels.
- Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education.
- Serves as preceptor or mentor for nurses and other disciplines to build a qualified workforce and create a healthy work environment.
- Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement.
- Participates in value analysis and decision‑making for patient care products.
- Upholds healthcare system policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements such as TJC Patient Safety Goals.
- Collects data, poses clinical questions, consults experts, and uses evidence to address practice questions.
- Plans patient care across the care continuum while providing direct patient care.
- Develops protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers to achieve best practice outcomes.
- Supports efficient use of human and material resources.
- Associate’s Nursing diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor’s Nursing preferred. - Minimum 5 years RN experience.
- Direct patient care experience preferred.
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) required.
- RN‑COMPACT – Multi‑state Compact acceptable.
- BLS – Basic Life Support required; ARC‑BLS and BLS‑I preferred.
