Position Summary

This role focuses on maximizing the application of CAREL's control and cooling solutions in commercial HVAC environments by developing, communicating, and implementing market best practices for medium‑to‑large equipment installations with OEMs and end‑users. The Application Specialist guides OEM applications and commissioning for commercial HVAC equipment including Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS), rooftop units (RTUs), commercial heat pumps, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, and air handling units (AHUs), leveraging CAREL's full portfolio of controllers, drives, dampers, heat exchangers, valves, and supervisory solutions.

Role Overview

The Application Specialist proactively leads initiatives to apply efficient CAREL control strategies for commercial HVAC systems, supports OEMs and building owners in early implementation phases, and serves as the CAREL commercial HVAC control expert. The role delivers technical training internally and externally.

Key Equipment Platforms
  • Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS) – energy recovery ventilators, dehumidification units, and fresh air handling for commercial and institutional buildings
  • Commercial Rooftop Units (RTUs) – packaged and split rooftop systems serving retail, office, and industrial light‑commercial facilities
  • Commercial Heat Pumps – air‑to‑water, water‑to‑water, and geothermal heat pump systems including VRF controls for multi‑zone commercial applications
  • Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs) – terminal and central station air handlers for commercial, healthcare, and hospitality environments
  • Chillers and Chilled Water Systems – commercial chilled water plant controls, primary‑secondary pumping, and sequencing
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Actively support design and implementation of complete CAREL HVAC control solutions with OEMs in commercial markets, focusing on energy efficiency, dehumidification performance, ventilation compliance (ASHRAE 62.1), demand‑controlled ventilation, and integration with BMS/BAS platforms.
  • Guide OEM selection and configuration of CAREL controllers, electronic expansion valves, variable speed drives, and supervisory systems for DOAS, RTU, heat pump, and AHU applications.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of commercial CAREL‑controlled equipment at OEM facilities and customer job sites, focusing on refrigerant circuit optimization, economizer logic, heat recovery wheel controls, and humidity management.
  • Provide technical expertise on integration of CAREL systems with building automation systems via BACnet, Modbus, and Lon Works protocols in commercial building environments.
  • Participate in product strategy and development discussions with CAREL's global engineering teams based on commercial application needs.
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs, application notes, configuration guides, and commissioning documentation for OEM partners, mechanical engineers, and building contractors.
  • Partner proactively with OEM engineering teams to plan, design, and solve systemic control issues before units ship to commercial job sites.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, marketing, and product management to develop commercial application solutions responsive to market needs.
  • Communicate status and actions needed for problem resolution internally and externally; elevate urgent issues related to commercial HVAC control failures or opportunities.
  • Identify best CAREL controller practices from the OEM and contractor perspective, developing application standards that address common commercial HVAC requirements.
