Job Overview
Fleet Mechanic A, B, or C positions located at Roswell, NM (also supporting Carlsbad, NM). This role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles operated by Xcel Energy Corp., including preventive maintenance, minor and major repairs of cars, trucks, aerial devices, construction equipment, and other equipment. The shift is Monday‑Friday. Candidates must reside within 20 miles of the Roswell, NM service center.
ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles, ensuring they remain safe and reliable for daily operation. Work independently or with a team, as needed, and respond to after‑hour emergency work, callouts, and overtime.
Qualifications Fleet Mechanic A- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 4 years of automotive and/or truck maintenance and repair experience.
- Minimum of 8 ASE (or equivalent) certifications, which may be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a DOT medical card, or be able to obtain both within 120 days of employment.
- Willingness to perform after‑hour work and overtime as assigned.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work at elevated heights and ladders.
- Self‑motivated and capable of working independently.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Technical, vocational, or trade school diploma/degree in automotive, truck, or heavy equipment service repair and maintenance, or 3 years of continuous work experience in the field.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable automotive/truck experience.
- Must possess a Class A CDL or be able to obtain one within 3 months of hire at the employee’s expense.
- Must hold 6 current ASE (or equivalent) certifications.
- Ability to read, understand English, perform basic mathematics, and use basic computer skills.
- Must supply standard and metric tools as required by the fleet department.
- Demonstrated high safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable automotive/truck experience.
- Must possess a Class A CDL or be able to obtain one within 3 months of hire at the employee’s expense.
- Ability to read, understand English, perform basic mathematics, and use basic computer skills.
- Must supply standard and metric tools as required by the fleet department.
- Demonstrated high safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
Salary: $24.56 to $43.33 per hour (base pay).
