Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – a front‑line, individual contributor responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow‑up repairs, and electronic diagnostics in a mobile field environment. The role requires 100% travel and works a variable shift schedule, typically Tuesday through Saturday.
Compensation & Benefits- Hourly base rate: $26.73 – $40.10, varying by location and qualifications.
- New‑hire bonus: $5,000 (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).

- Paid time off: 200 hours (5 weeks) accrual based on tenure, plus additional leave for bereavement, jury duty, military, parental, and other statutory leave.

- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
- Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck systems, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fans, clutches, transmission, and engine components.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical/electrical/electronic issues using hand tools, precision instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Use handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments to inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment.
- Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation and complete DOT forms and repair orders (RO) with photographs on the proprietary TRAIT iOS application.
- Manage parts inventory, conduct daily pre‑/post‑trip inspections of the company‑issued service vehicle, and perform safety checks.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and maintain a high level of productivity within standard repair times.
- Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase orders, and repair findings.
- Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related field (alternative: 5 years’ experience).
- Must possess a set of hand tools necessary for the role.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
- Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or valid DOT medical card with >4 months of validity).
- Must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid state driver’s license, and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Preferred certifications: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, and ASE 608/609.
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform moderate heavy labor and repetitive tasks.
- Strong verbal, written, and two‑way communication skills.
- Logical reasoning and problem‑solving ability in a fast‑paced environment.
- Understand the implications of new information for current and future problem‑solving.
- Ability to judge distances and determine appropriate tools and equipment.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses in alternative solutions.
- Engage in effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups.
