Family Support Specialist / Home Visitor (FSS/HV)
This part‑time, hourly position is based in Waycross, GA. The role involves initiating and maintaining regular and long‑term (up to five years) contact and support with families, primarily within the family’s home. Interventions are family‑centered, strength‑based, and focus on establishing trusting relationships, strengthening parent‑child interactions, improving the home environment, enhancing the family support system, and increasing problem‑solving and advocacy skills.
Responsibilities- Initiate and maintain regular contact with families.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and related support to parents and children.
- Assist families in identifying and referring to supportive services, including health‑care appointments.
- Help families establish goals and plans for goal accomplishment and assess the normal growth and development of target children.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of interactions and referrals.
- High school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in a support role providing coaching, mentoring, or related duties.
- Knowledge of the functional business area where training will be provided.
- Post‑secondary education in childhood development or education (preferred).
- Bilingual (preferred).
- Experience working with or providing services to children and families and demonstrating an ability to establish trusting relationships.
- Acceptance of individual differences and a willingness to collaborate with culturally diverse families.
- Solid understanding of infant and child development (essential).

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary. Southeast Health District accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). SEHD will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensure, etc.
