Position Overview

Waymaker Church is seeking a passionate, Spirit-filled, and energetic Youth Pastor to lead, disciple, and inspire our 6th-12th grade students and young adults. The ideal candidate has a deep love for Jesus, a strong Pentecostal heritage, and a proven track record of engaging teenagers, partnering with parents, and equipping volunteer teams.

This individual will cast vision for our student ministry, create dynamic weekly gathering environments, and foster a culture where young people can encounter the Holy Spirit, discover their God-given gifts, and step into leadership.

Heart of the House

We want to help students reveal their identity, develop maturity, and live authentically for the Kingdom of God.

One of our core values is Development:
We will develop the next generation. We genuinely believe that the students are not the church of tomorrow; they are the church of today.

  • They have access to the same God/Holy Spirit.
  • We want to reveal whose they are, not just who they are.
  • We want them to know His voice.
  • We want them to have a firm biblical foundation.
  • We want them to activate their faith:
    Disciples making disciples.
Key Responsibilities 1. Vision & Student Discipleship
  • Lead, design, and execute dynamic weekly youth services (midweek) that include biblically sound, Pentecostal-focused teaching, worship, and small group connections.
  • Build a clear discipleship pathway for students to grow in their faith, discover spiritual gifts, and develop a lifestyle of prayer and evangelism.
  • Oversee and promote district/national AG initiatives, including AG Youth Camps, Fine Arts Festival, Youth Convention, and mission opportunities (e.g., Speed the Light, Short-term missions trips, etc.)
2. Team Building & Leadership Development
  • Recruit, train, and equip a passionate team of adult volunteers to mentor and disciple students safely and effectively.
  • Establish student leadership pipelines, empowering teenagers to serve across various ministries within the church.
3. Community & Parent Engagement
  • Actively partner with parents, providing resources, communication, and support to foster whole-family discipleship.
  • Build a presence in the local community by supporting students at school events (where applicable) and engaging local campus ministries (such as Youth Alive, Jesus Clubs, or FCA).
4. Pastoral & General Church Responsibilities
  • Provide age-appropriate pastoral care, counsel, and guidance to youth and their families.
  • Assist in broader church life, which includes participating in pastoral team meetings, Sunday morning platform involvement, or occasional preaching, weddings, funerals, and outreach events as assigned.
  • Manage and steward the annual Youth Ministry budget responsibly.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • AG Credentialing: Must hold current ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God, or be actively in the process of transferring/receiving AG credentials.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of active, hands-on experience in youth ministry leadership (full-time, part-time, or key associate role).
  • Theological Alignment: Full agreement with the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God and a lifestyle consistent with AG ministerial standards.
  • Spiritual Maturity: A vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, characterized by a Spirit-led life, personal integrity, and a passion for prayer.
  • Relational & Communication

    Skills:

Strong communicator on and off the platform, with a high relational capacity to connect easily with students, parents, and volunteers.
  • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and complete Child Safety Training.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary (commensurate with experience and credential level).
  • Paid time off (PTO) and housing allowance.
  • Health/Vision/Dental Insurance
  • Support for continuing credentialing education, District Network events, and professional growth.
  • A supportive, team-oriented staff environment dedicated to seeing the next generation saved, filled with the Spirit, and sent out.
