Job SummaryThe Advanced Sources and Detector (ASD) Project is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and commissioning of an ~20 MeV linear induction electron accelerator, through the coordination of efforts at Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, and the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). Nicknamed Scorpius, the machine will be used to diagnose subcritical experiments at the NNSS, within an underground complex (U1a;
963 feet below grade) in support of the Enhanced Capabilities for Subcritical Experiments Program. The Control Account Manager (CAM) will manage cost, schedule, and technical performance for key parts of this major project supporting the stockpile stewardship program.
- Lead a cross‑functional team to achieve project goals while ensuring safety, meeting requirements, and staying within budget and schedule.
- Plan, budget, manage, and control costs and schedule performance for the project or sub‑project and serve as a point of contact for project controls.
- Ensure work packages realistically represent duration and budget, perform variance analysis, determine cause and effect of schedule or cost variance, and define corrective action plans.
- Present project‑management performance plans, status updates, trends, or issues to federal sponsors.
- Manage Control Accounts within large DOE 413.B projects that may involve complex and technically challenging scopes of work.
- Review and present progress reports, develop forecasts, and oversee corrective actions when necessary.
- Utilize expertise in project controls, cost estimating, cost control, cost analysis, scheduling, and EVMS tools.
- Apply advanced project‑management principles and an understanding of construction operations, engineering, procurement, and project‑related activities.
- Coordinate major projects involving several Laboratory organizations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, and industry standards and manage conflicts and alliances.
- 5+ years of project management experience with complex and technically challenging projects.
- Proficient knowledge of EVMS tools and advanced project‑management principles.
- Skills in planning, budgeting, cost control, scheduling, and variance analysis.
- Track record of leading cross‑functional teams and managing large projects to successful completion.
- Experience preparing and presenting detailed project reports to stakeholders, including federal sponsors.
- Understanding of construction, engineering, procurement, and industry standards.
- Experience managing large projects ($10M+ TPC) and project teams (20+ people) through representative lifecycle phases.
- Ability to define, plan, execute, monitor, control, and complete discrete scope elements under schedule, cost, risk, and quality constraints.
- Maintain stakeholder satisfaction with differing needs and expectations.
- Manage communications between stakeholders and team members.
- Identify and comply with project requirements in product and deliverable development.
- Experience with EVMS.
- DOE O 413.3B knowledge and experience is preferred.
- Preferred: experience with DOE/NNSA or equivalent national‑security agencies.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 12 years of related professional experience, including 8 years as a designated Project Manager.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, and at least 12 years of related professional experience.
Hybrid role: 3 days onsite per week and 2 days remote.
