Roswell, NM - Cheese Mixer​/Extruder Operator

Overview

Leprino Foods Company, a global leader in the dairy food and ingredient industry, is seeking a Cheese Extruder Operator to join our team located in Roswell, NM. Leprino Foods is the world's largest supplier of mozzarella cheese and one of the largest suppliers of premium dairy nutrition ingredients. • Maintain constant levels and proper mixture of all ingredients being added to the cheese; maintain a clean environment and adhere to GMPs, SOPs, and Critical Control Points pertaining to food safety and USDA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with other departments such as Whey, Processing, Cheese, etc.
• Make computer adjustments to start the CIP process and control product salt set points, cheese speed, and other process parameters.
• Adjust ingredients that go into the cheese (salt, liquids, powder, modifier, etc.).
• Enter data into the computer, including pH levels, ribbon dimensions, weights, and other measurements.
• Perform CIP (Clean in Place) and apply proper chemical dosage to clean all equipment used.
• Inspect equipment involved in the process (wet mixers, pre-heat tanks, dry mixers, extruders, line 1, line 2, slurry) and ensure proper operation.
• Clean and sanitize equipment as required by company procedures and maintain good housekeeping in the area.
• Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices at all times.
• Demonstrate safe work practices by following all applicable safety rules and regulations.
• Communicate as required with Supervisors, Forepersons, other departments, and coworkers.
• Contribute to food safety and food quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Forepersons and Supervisors.
• Work in an environment with higher ambient temperatures and humidity.
• Work safely around chemicals.
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $21.68 and $22.41 per hour.

• Ability to perform essential job functions safely.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
• Must be able to work Sunday–Saturday, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and required overtime to support a 24 hour/7 day operation.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 8.5 hours.
• Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with a high degree of accuracy.

• Able to read, write, and perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
• Must be able to maintain accurate records.

• Good time management skills.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Able to interpret data and make necessary decisions.

• Exposure to ambient temperatures and a wet/slippery environment with loud noise; temperatures can vary.
• Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception; ability to read computer screens for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Bending, squatting, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, standing, and walking are required throughout the shift.
