Leprino, a global leader in the dairy food and ingredient industry, is seeking a Cheese Slurry (P2) Operator to join our team in Roswell, NM. The role involves operating P2 equipment safely and effectively, maintaining a clean environment, and adhering to all GMPs, SOPs, and critical control points related to food safety and USDA regulations.
The successful candidate will perform basic mathematical functions, communicate across departments (Whey, Warehouse, Cheese Noltec area, Cheese Mixers area), adjust equipment settings for product specifications, and enable the cleaning CIP process with appropriate chemicals.
Responsibilities- Hook up for product: physically make all needed connections and inspect for leaks.
- Record product temperature, pH, addition rates, ingredients, and other parameters; enter data into the computer.
- Perform legal pasteurization procedures and maintain records.
- Change filters to maintain safe product flow.
- Set shift parameters to ensure correct temperature, pH level, and addition rate.
- Monitor equipment and computer screens to ensure proper operation of pumps and machinery.
- Check can fills to guarantee correct product volumes throughout the run.
- Change gaskets and clamps, ensuring proper installation.
- Inspect magnets to keep them free of extraneous material; clean and replace as needed.
- Calibrate and check powder can fill.
- Monitor Readco mixer: inspect auger and ensure safe and correct hookup.
- Change pipes and elbows for CIP, ensuring correct connections.
- Clean and sanitize all equipment per company procedures; maintain good housekeeping.
- Perform other duties assigned by forepersons and supervisors.
- Work safely around chemicals, in high ambient temperature and humidity.
- Operate efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Minimum 18 years old.
- Ability to work Sunday-Saturday, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and required overtime to support a 24/7 operation.
- Work a minimum of 8.5 hours per shift.
- Demonstrated ability to complete assignments accurately.
- Good communication skills in English, able to read, write, and speak.
- Intermediate mathematical calculations and accurate record‑keeping.
- Good time management skills, ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Interpret data and make necessary decisions.
- Physical ability to lift and carry 50–60 pounds, bend, squat, reach, climb stairs/ladders, stand, and walk throughout the shift.
- Exposure to ambient temperatures, wet/slippery environment, and loud noise.
Starting compensation for this role is $22.28, with a night shift premium of $1.25 per hour for hours worked between 6 PM and 6 AM. The total compensation package includes competitive wages, full benefits, a bonus program, 401(k) employer match, and profit sharing.
