Salary$32.15 – $48.23 hourly, $66,880 – $100,320 annually (Pay Band C9)
Role OverviewThe Admission Nurse is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the admission process for new residents to the facility. This includes completing comprehensive assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, educating residents and families, and ensuring a smooth transition of care into the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission.
- Review hospital records, physician notes, and transfer documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure all consents, medical records, and required forms are obtained and completed per facility and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility standards during the admission process.
- Coordinate with Social Services, Business Office, Dietary, Therapy, and other departments during admissions.
- May provide direct patient/client care by implementing accepted nursing practices and institutional policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Patients in need of rehabilitation for chemical dependency or medical rehabilitation.
Ideal Candidate- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with strong assessment and care‑planning skills.
- Knowledge of CMS, state, and federal regulations for nursing home admissions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; highly organized and able to manage multiple admissions simultaneously.
- Compassionate, resident‑centered approach with families and residents.
- Effective team collaborator with interdisciplinary departments.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and schedules.
- Knowledge of clinical and nursing standards for all ages 18 to 90 plus.
- Desire to continue learning and incorporating new information and methodologies.
- Receptive to new management skills in performance of duties.
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico or eligibility for such licensure, and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements- Current or eligible license to practice as an RN in New Mexico.
- Valid driver's license and completion of a defensive driving course.
- Subject to post‑offer pre‑employment criminal background check; position is conditional pending results.
- Medium to heavy physical demand; may require walking and standing for most of shift.
- Moderate lifting of patients with assistance; frequent reaching and handling of instruments.
- Visual and auditory acuity required.
- Variable hours to meet institutional demands.
- Exposure to unpleasant sights, odors, hazardous and infectious agents; requires appropriate precautions.
- Exposure to emotional stress.
- Hospital and office setting with exposure to VDT and extensive computer and phone use.
- Potential encounters with mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and violent behaviors; crisis intervention may be required.
