Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing
Location: Spring River Rehabilitation & Care Center
Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON)

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager is a key member of the clinical leadership team at Spring River Rehabilitation and Care Center. This position is one of four Nurse Managers who will function collaboratively as a team to provide seven-day-a-week leadership coverage and ensure consistent oversight of nursing operations across all shifts. Together, the Nurse Manager team will support the Director of Nursing in the planning, development, organization, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services to deliver high‑quality resident care in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational values.

Nurse Managers play a vital role in modeling and promoting teamwork, open communication, continued professional development, mutual support, and trust. Individuals in this role must embrace a leadership style that is collaborative, respectful, and growth‑minded—setting the tone for a united and resilient care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the nursing department.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a four‑member Nurse Manager team to ensure seamless leadership coverage and consistent standards of care across all units and shifts.

  • Support the DON in overseeing all nursing staff and performance management.

  • Monitor resident care and provide direct clinical oversight to ensure that quality standards are maintained.

  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and care standards.

  • Conduct audits to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with CMS, OSHA, CDC, and other relevant regulations.

  • Lead or actively participate in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.

  • Work in conjunction with the Scheduling Manager to ensure adequate shift coverage and minimize overtime.

  • Participate in care planning meetings and interdisciplinary team conferences.

  • Serve as acting DON in the absence of the Director of Nursing.

  • Provide direct clinical support during emergencies, high‑acuity situations, and staff shortages.

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture focused on excellence in resident care.

  • Lead by example in creating a learning environment that emphasizes professional development, teamwork, communication, and a shared commitment to quality.

Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico, in good standing.

  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in long‑term care or a rehabilitation setting.

  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory nursing role is strongly preferred.

  • In‑depth knowledge of nursing home regulations and long‑term care standards.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team‑building skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EHR) and basic computer applications.

Preferred Attributes
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.

Working Conditions
  • On‑site role with rotating evening, weekend, and on‑call responsibilities shared among the three Nurse Managers.

  • Physical demands include lifting residents, pushing equipment or wheelchairs, and prolonged standing or walking.
