Overview
This water treatment sales position focuses on managing existing accounts and growing new business to drive Chem Treat’s market position within a geography or industry. The role involves retaining an existing customer base by fostering Chem Treat value certification, earning return on investment, and actively generating new accounts. The primary focus is on profitable growth and maintenance of a territory by determining and meeting customer needs.
Responsibilities- Lead the creation, improvement, and implementation of innovative sales strategies to drive Chem Treat’s position and increase market share within the assigned geography.
- Develop key relationships with customers, including identifying and engaging decision makers, prospecting, cold calling, frequent follow‑ups, utilizing strategic questioning, and uncovering customer needs.
- Increase sales and profit margin within the territory by meeting assigned targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars.
- Engage technical staff and management as needed to develop retention and growth strategies.
- Establish professional relationships with key personnel in customer accounts.
- Present effective proposals to current and prospective customers.
- Communicate Chem Treat’s value proposition to the customer base.
- Troubleshoot technical and site‑specific process issues.
- Attract, interview, and screen new candidates at various levels.
- Effectively audit key unit operations.
- Entertain customers and prospects in accordance with Chem Treat’s entertainment policy.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; 7+ years of successful water treatment sales experience; proven track record of generating sales revenue and maintaining and growing an account base.
Industry knowledge specific to water treatment including familiarity with various applications. Strong organizational skills, self‑management, strategic mindset, team‑player attitude, and practical problem‑solving ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (emails, comprehensive service reports, proposals). Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Demands- Travel as required to assigned territory.
- May require long hours & varied work schedules.
- Must be able to sit, walk, stand, climb stairs, and handle & lift up to 60 lbs; occasionally handle drums weighing 250‑800 lbs and work at high elevations.
- Must drive short and long distances, not to exceed DOT regulations.
- Required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for deliveries (eye, hearing, respiratory protection, protective apron, steel‑toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, face shields).
- May work in extreme heat, high noise levels, and in outdoor sites such as boiler houses, cooling towers, water plants, wastewater plants, or process areas.
- Use of hazardous chemicals is routine.
