JOB PURPOSE:
To assist the Security Manager in carrying out his/her responsibilities in the area of security by providing a safe and secure environment for employees and customers, and for safeguarding assets and property for the Casino, Hotel, Sports Bar, Convenience Stores, as well as patrols of other Pueblo properties.
Assist qualified Pueblo of Pojoaque Tribal members in employment opportunities with the Pueblo of Pojoaque Businesses by hiring, coaching and supporting their career growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Directly supervises Security Supervisors, Indirectly supervises Officers.
- Approves leave requests, handles interviewing and hiring of new Officers.
- Oversees the review and approval of internal time sheets, scheduling of work, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and training of new Officers.
- Acts as Manager or Director of Security in their absence.
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the shift as follows: ensures Officer Briefings are conducted at the beginning of the shift, and all incident reports are accurately completed.
- Reviews all daily radio, telephone, key, incident reports for respective shifts.
- Maintains controlled key and lost and found property records.
- Maintains Security equipment (radios, gear, and uniforms), and schedules service and repair.
- Responds to assistance calls, hazardous material incidents and natural disasters.
- Follows and enforces set procedures for bomb threats, fires, evacuations and armed robberies.
- Liaison between Security and other Law enforcement agencies.
- Oversees any additional special events as requested by Tribal Administration.
- Recommends candidates for employment status changes, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff, and is responsible for the application of organizational policies, procedures, and processes
- Estimates personnel needs and assigns work to meet completion dates, which may be in accordance with schedules fixed by higher supervision, and subject to higher approval.
- Responsible for monitoring budget expenditures and strategic goals consistent with the mission
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of departmental and gaming commission rules, regulations, policies and procedures; federal and state statutes, and tribal ordinances as related to security work.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Casino layout and the geography of the Pueblo of Pojoaque; and resources available for disaster and other emergencies.
- Supervises, coordinates, delegates, provides leadership to and reviews the work of assigned staff.
- Thorough knowledge of the Pojoaque Gaming Inc. Employee Handbook, principles of supervision, security administration, and training techniques;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to effectively evaluate incident reports.
- Ability to analyze situations and take quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances.
- Ability to operate vehicles, and utilize specialized security equipment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year successful supervisory/management related progressive experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in solving practical problems in a variety of situations where standardization of concrete variables exists such as policies, procedures, regulations, and processes.
- Gaming Commission hiring requirements
- Must pass background investigation and pre-employment drug test.
- Required to wear full uniform unless otherwise directed by the Director of Security or Manager, and then in business casual or business dress only
- Must have valid driver's license with no DUI's in the last five years and no more than two major offenses
- First Aid/CPR and AED Certification
- Basic Computer Skills
- Basic Report Writing Skills
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes inclement weather conditions.
