SummaryThis position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles operated by Xcel Energy Corp. The person will work out of the Roswell, NM service center location. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, minor and major repairs of cars, trucks, aerial devices, construction equipment, and other equipment operated by the company. The shift is Monday-Friday. Candidates must reside within 20 miles of the Roswell, NM service center.
Requirementsfor Fleet Mechanic A
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in automotive and/or truck maintenance and repair
- Minimum of 8 certifications from Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or equivalent for a Fleet Mechanic A (ability to acquire them within 6 months of hire)
- Included certifications may be from Fluid Power Society (FPS), State Welding, Manufacturing engine repair and diagnostics, Hydraulic repair and diagnostics, truck and chassis electronics repair and diagnostics
- Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a DOT medical card (or ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 120 days of employment)
- Willing to respond to after-hours emergency work, callouts and overtime as assigned
- Fit to lift 50 lbs, work from elevated heights and off ladders
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- High school diploma or GED and a technical, vocational or trade school diploma or degree in automotive truck and/or heavy equipment service repair and maintenance, or at least 3 years of continuous work history in this field
- Minimum of 2 years verifiable experience in the automotive/truck field
- Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class
A) or ability to obtain it within 3 months of hire - Must hold 6 current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications or 6 equivalent (ability to acquire within 6 months of hire)
- Ability to read and understand English, perform basic mathematics and basic computer skills
- Must furnish standard and metric tools in accordance with the fleet department’s required tool list
- High level of safety awareness and commitment to work safely at all times
- High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year verifiable experience in the automotive/truck field
- Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class
A) or ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire - Ability to read and understand English, perform basic mathematics and basic computer skills
- Must furnish standard and metric tools in accordance with the fleet department’s required tool list
- High level of safety awareness and commitment to work safely at all times
