Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven
Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential care home with in-house education provision, supporting children and young people with varying needs.
Our service is intentionally different.
We believe that care, education, and emotional wellbeing must be fully integrated to achieve lasting outcomes. The Registered Manager will be central to creating a stable, safe, and aspirational environment where children can feel secure, re-engage with learning, and make meaningful progress.
This role requires a confident leader with a strong understanding of children’s residential care, a commitment to trauma-informed practice, and the ability to work collaboratively with education professionals.
Registration, Regulation & Compliance- Act as the Registered Manager with Ofsted, ensuring full compliance at all times
- Ensure the home operates in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
- Lead the service to meet and exceed the Ofsted Quality Standards, particularly:
- The Quality and Purpose of Care
- Education
- Protection
- Leadership and Management
- Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections, audits, and monitoring visits
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are robust, embedded, and consistently followed
- Provide strong, consistent, and child-centred leadership to the residential team
- Create a culture of high expectations, emotional safety, and accountability
- Recruit, develop, and retain staff who align with the home’s values and approach
- Ensure effective induction, supervision, appraisal, and ongoing professional development
- Promote reflective practice and continuous improvement
- Ensure children receive safe, nurturing, and person-centred care
- Work closely with the in-house education team to support engagement, progress, and attainment
- Ensure care planning supports both emotional wellbeing and educational development
- Oversee care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support strategies, and placement outcomes
- Champion trauma-informed, relational, and restorative approaches
- Manage the day-to-day running of the home, including staffing, rotas, and resources
- Maintain accurate records and effective governance systems
- Build positive, professional relationships with:
- Local authorities
- Families and carers
- Education professionals
- Manage incidents, complaints, and safeguarding concerns appropriately and transparently
- Significant experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in children’s residential care
- Eligible to be registered with Ofsted
- Proven leadership and people-management skills
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
- Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making abilities
- Children’s Homes Regulations
- Ofsted Quality Standards
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Experience supporting children with varying needs and backgrounds
- Experience with in education-linked or integrated residential models
- Track record of achieving or contributing to Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
- Confidence working within multi-disciplinary teams
