Multi-skilled Operative –
Location:
Pontefract, Scunthorpe, Grimsby and surrounding areas –
Contract:
Full Time Permanent – Salary up to £33,727 per annum, plus company van & fuel card –
Hours:
42.5 per week (8-5 Monday‑Friday).
- Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across void social housing properties.
- Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, internal door frames and internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges.
- Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors.
- Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks.
- Carry out patch plastering and make good damaged walls or ceilings.
- Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing.
- Paint and decorate to a professional finish following repair work.
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Work in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy.
- Participate in the out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota on a rotational basis.
- Attend training sessions when required.
- Report any further works, safeguarding concerns or property issues beyond scope.
- Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents’ homes.
- Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets.
- Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good working order.
- Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets.
- Proven experience in repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Entitlement to work within the UK (no visa sponsorship).
