Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAre you interested in the chance to participate in the development of innovative DC technologies and contribute to the future of electrification? At ABB Electrification - Smart Power Division, we are shaping the global transition toward a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient energy future.
As a Global Application Specialist - DC applications, you will play a key role in developing and advancing next generation power systems with a focus on solid-state circuit breaker technology. This breakthrough innovation is transforming how energy is distributed and protected in modern energy networks, battery energy storage systems, and mission-critical infrastructure. In this global position, you will collaborate with a visionary team focused on the creation, promotion, and validation of groundbreaking DC applications.
Working closely with customers, you’ll help design, promote, and deliver solutions that meet the growing demand for high performance, reliability, and sustainability in the evolving energy landscape. You’ll be deeply involved in experiencing and solving the electrification challenges of the future - directly alongside our customers.
Work model: hybrid.
The location for this role is flexible, with a preference for candidates in the European time zone.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Driving revenue growth by identifying, qualifying, and closing sales opportunities for next-generation DC applications and solid-state circuit breaker solutions across global markets
- Building and managing strategic customer relationships worldwide to understand emerging needs, position ABB's DC technology solutions, and secure long-term partnerships
- Collaborating with Product Management and R&D to translate customer feedback and market demands into product enhancements and new sales opportunities
- Creating and delivering customer-facing presentations, training materials, and sales tools that enable the sales organization to effectively promote and sell DC technology solutions
- Supporting digital marketing campaigns and lead generation activities to build market awareness for DC applications
- Analyzing market trends, competitive positioning, and customer buying behaviors to recommend sales strategies and contribute to business planning for revenue growth
Qualifications for the Role
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or related field; master’s degree preferred
- Strong background in low-voltage direct current systems, protection devices, and solid-state circuit breaker technology with ability to articulate competitive advantages and market positioning
- Sales or business development experience (e.g., consultative selling, sales strategy, or equivalent) is advantageous
- Proven ability to translate technical features into customer value propositions that drive purchasing decisions and customer loyalty
- Track record of identifying market opportunities, developing sales strategies, and contributing to revenue growth and market penetration
- Willingness and availability to travel frequently (30-40%) to meet customers, build relationships, and pursue sales opportunities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages a plus
