Part i: summary of position

The clerk supports daily office operations by performing a range of general clerical functions including basic processing, reception, filing, record keeping, and other duties as assigned.

Part ii: minimum knowledge, skills and abilities

Education and experience:

* high school diploma or

* six (6) months of office experience.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

* knowledge of office procedures including proper telephone usage and filing;

* knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar;

* skill in typing a variety of materials;

* basic interpersonal skill;

* basic oral and written communication skills;

* basic skill in performing arithmetical computations;

* ability to operate office equipment which includes personal computers, computer terminals and other electronic equipment;

* ability to perform basic clerical tasks such as coding, sorting, alphabetizing and numeric ordering;

* ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

* provides professional customer service by greeting visitors, answering telephone calls, directing inquiries, and responding to routine requests for information.

* prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents with accuracy and attention to detail.

* maintains electronic and paper filing systems, records, logs, and databases in accordance with established procedures.

* receives, sorts, distributes, and processes incoming and outgoing mail and other communications.

* enters, retrieves, verifies, and updates data within district information systems and other electronic databases.

* reviews documents for completeness and accuracy, making authorized corrections and verifying information as needed.

* compiles information from multiple sources and prepares routine reports, summaries, and records.

* processes financial transactions, including receiving payments, preparing receipts, balancing funds, and completing deposits in accordance with district procedures.

* prepares purchase requisitions, billing documents, and other routine business records.

* maintains inventories and coordinates the ordering of office, instructional, and program supplies.

* supports the operation of the school meal program by maintaining required records, student meal accounts, and free and reduced meal documentation.

* assists with ordering, receiving, storing, and maintaining food and kitchen supplies in accordance with health and safety requirements.

* maintains cafeteria cleanliness, food service equipment, and work areas in compliance with state and local health regulations.

* assists with the preparation, serving, and distribution of meals while ensuring accurate meal counts and required documentation.

* supervises and assists students during meal service, promoting safe, orderly, and respectful behavior.

* assists with cafeteria setup, cleanup, and daily operational routines to ensure efficient meal service.

* provides emergency meal service to students as needed in accordance with district procedures.

* maintains confidentiality of student, staff, and district information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.

* operates office technology, computer systems, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.

* performs other duties as assigned.
