summary of position

the parent & family engagement liaison works with parents/caregivers in collaboration with schools and community social service providers to support a parent/caregiver in the physical, social, emotional, and educational development of their child.

minimum knowledge, skills and abilities education and experience
  • must have a bachelor's degree.
  • bachelor’s degree in social work or other human‑services related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • experience in early childhood development and special needs.
  • fluent in english, spanish preferred.
credentials
  • active driver’s license in order to complete home and community visits.

  • knowledge of and respect for diverse cultural, linguistic, environmental, and family backgrounds, and the ability to apply this understanding to support students’ learning and development.
  • knowledge of child development, including cognitive, communicative, physical, social, and emotional needs, and the factors that influence these areas.
  • knowledge of relevant district, state, and regulatory laws, rules, and requirements, including those related to licensure, background checks, and ethical practice.
  • ability to work effectively and collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams, including families and external stakeholders.

essential functions
  • serves as a liaison between parents/caregivers and the district, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • works with, encourages, and supports parents/caregivers of young children in a variety of settings, including homes, daycares, schools, and community sites.
  • links parents/caregivers with lake county and community agencies and resources that provide social, educational, and family support services.
  • assists in coordinating birth–5 services, providing parents/caregivers with education, information, and referrals related to early intervention supports and programming.
  • facilitates parent universities, training sessions, and family engagement activities aligned with the goals of the mountaintop project, preschool for all (pfa) and preschool for all expansion (pfae) programs.
  • supports parents/caregivers in their role as their child’s primary educator and advocate, including strategies to reinforce learning and development at home.
  • ensures that parent/caregiver outreach and engagement efforts are aligned with the mission, vision, and guidelines of the mountaintop project, pfa and pfae programs.
  • maintains regular, professional communication with parents/caregivers, team members, program leadership, and external stakeholders while ensuring confidentiality.
  • attends required meetings related to participating children and families, to support mountaintop project, pfa and pfae programs.
  • prepares, organizes, and maintains accurate records, case notes, surveys, and documentation required for program compliance and reporting.
  • facilitates the timely and accurate completion and submission of required documentation by team members in accordance with program guidelines.
  • completes closing and exit documentation for children transitioning out of the program in compliance with mountaintop project procedures.
