the day-to-day substitute serves as an on-call educator who supports student learning by stepping into classrooms during the absence of permanent teachers or teaching assistants. The primary objective is to maintain an engaging, productive, and safe learning environment while ensuring the continuity of instruction. Responsibilities vary from leading classroom instruction using provided lesson plans (teacher assignments) to assisting with student supervision and instructional support (teaching assistant assignments).

a. Education and experience

• minimum education required to meet isbe licensure requirements for substitute or professional educator licensure.
• experience working with school-aged children preferred.

b. Credentials:

• valid illinois state board of education (isbe) professional educator license (pel) or substitute license (sub).
• license must be registered in lake county regional office of education (region 34).
• successful completion of criminal background check/fingerprinting and evidence of physical fitness for duty.

• communication: effective oral and written communication skills in english; ability to explain concepts clearly to students.

• classroom management: strong skills in maintaining order and enforcing school rules.

employment as a day-to-day substitute with round lake area schools district 116 is on an "at-will" basis. This means that either the district or the employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice. Substitute employment is on-call and does not guarantee a minimum number of days or hours, nor does it establish a contract for continued employment.
