Sr. Principal Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer for a Contract with a client in Round Lake, IL (Hybrid). The ideal candidate will lead the design and validation of safety-critical electrical systems for infusion products, driving innovation from concept through manufacturing.

Rate Range: $65/hour to $70/hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Sr. Principal Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Lead the design, development, and validation of safety-critical electrical systems for infusion and medical devices.
• Define system requirements, electrical architecture, and hardware specifications aligned with user and regulatory needs.
• Design and analyze analog and digital circuits for embedded microcontroller-based systems, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Ensure EMI/EMC/ESD compliance and guide PCB layout for manufacturability and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to deliver products to market.
• Mentor engineers, oversee testing and troubleshooting, and support smooth transition from development to manufacturing.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical, Electronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in electrical/electromechanical hardware development.
• Proven expertise in embedded microcontroller-based system design (analog, digital, FPGA) within regulated industries such as medical devices.
• Strong experience with EMI/EMC/ESD compliance, safety standards (IEC 60601/61010), and leading cross-functional teams through design, testing, and manufacturing transition.
