Your Role at BaxterAs a Senior Systems Engineer, your work directly contributes to improving patient outcomes worldwide. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, influence project direction, and help drive the development of medical devices that meet customer needs and regulatory standards.
Your TeamYou will support complex medical device development, working closely with systems, hardware, and software engineers to resolve challenging problems using standard system engineering principles and methods.
What you’ll be doing- Lead development of Design Inputs and Digital Interface Requirements.
- Work with cross‑functional team members such as Marketing and Clinical personnel to translate user needs into system requirements.
- Lead engineering resources (Electrical, Mechanical, and Software) in decomposing system requirements into derived requirements.
- Contribute to resolving competing constraints among inter‑related functions to deliver products to market.
- Resolve interface issues and document the theory of operations for complex medical product designs.
- Work with verification engineers to define test strategies for verification and validation plans using requirement tracing methods.
- Support risk analysis activities from hazard capture to mitigation, including quantitative residual risk calculation for the Safety Assurance Case.
- Implement configuration management throughout the product life cycle, covering design, development, and sustaining phases.
- Interface with Manufacturing, Service, Product Surveillance, Supply Chain, and Customer Training staff during the design transfer process.
- Ensure compliance with the product development process and Quality System.
- Bachelor’s degree required with 3+ years of experience or Master’s with 2+ years of experience.
- Solid understanding of systems engineering principles and related disciplines, including Electro/Mechanical, Digital Interface, Fluid Mechanics, Materials Science, etc.
- Success in delivering results on technical challenges, including investigative and problem‑solving skills (DFSS/DMAIC/CAPA).
- Prior medical device experience preferred; experience with Infusion Pumps and Syringe Pumps is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Estimated base salary: $96,000 to $132,000 annually. The range may vary based on market data, location, skills, and experience. Benefits include health, dental, life, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) retirement savings, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, and more.
