About the role:

Lead Maintenance Technicians coordinate teams of mechanics and ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner. Lead Maintenance Technicians are responsible for providing a high level of maintenance support for all equipment in the filling and packaging processes. Duties include overseeing subordinates, inspecting work to ensure standards are met, using diagnostic equipment, providing support and advice with repairs, and maintaining repair equipment.

This position ensures manufacturing lines are well maintained and ready to run during planned production time. It requires providing on time PM completion, consistent monitoring during production to spot and solve issues before they affect production. Provide a high level of troubleshooting ability to repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Must be able to troubleshoot and analyze PLCs and PLC controlled equipment, analyze data, and develop solutions to problems related to the filling and packaging processes.

This position may provide service on an emergency basis, including overtime, weekends and during plant shutdowns. Must be familiar with cGMP processes, corporate specifications, and plant SOPs. Must adhere to plant safety rules and direct others in the proper application of plant safety. The successful candidate will drive innovation and continuous improvement, able to work independently and closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality groups to resolve issues.

This position will support the supervisor with scheduling and timely PM completion. This position requires taking a leadership role, along with training and mentoring less experienced technicians.

This role is a night shift, 6:00pm – 6:30am in a 2-2-3 work schedule.

How you will contribute:
  • Lead Maintenance Technician requires limited supervision to accomplish objectives. This individual seeks to improve knowledge and skill through additional training and takes a proactive role in safe work practices, leading by example. Point out unsafe conditions and practices to others and support Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Take ownership of assigned manufacturing lines, continually monitor, and communicate with manufacturing to reduce downtime.
  • Provide a high level of troubleshooting ability to repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Schedule work orders and review inventory in advance to ensure parts are available to complete PMs on time.
  • Oversee building and rebuilding of machine assemblies.
  • Communicate equipment issues and work status to supervision, manufacturing, and management.
  • Initiate work orders using CMMS system.
  • Perform PM work and assign work related to the Galaxy process when required to maintain equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Share knowledge and train less experienced technicians in manufacturing processes and related equipment including safety, PMs, and troubleshooting. Training will be conducted at equipment and in classroom settings.
  • Handle robots in all normal production modes, troubleshoot and identify problems related to robots, machine output and quality defects as they occur.
  • Resolve maintenance issues, execute contingency plans, and manage junior technicians.
  • Solicit superintendent and engineering assistance when tasks warrant support.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain 100% on-time completion of all required training.
What you bring to Takeda:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required, plus 6+ years of experience or an Associate’s degree or higher and 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Technical certifications a plus.
  • 10+ years manufacturing systems experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working in an FDA-regulated environment preferred.
