Position: Family Visitation Center – Relief Staff (Bilingual)

Responsibilities
  • Conduct adult and child orientations.
  • Supervise visits: oversee visits and custody exchanges between children and non‑custodial parents.
  • Follow court orders in domestic violence cases to ensure safety.
  • Ensure safety: intervene and redirect visiting parents or children as needed.
  • Prioritize the well‑being of children, parents, and staff during visits.
  • Maintain records: document accurate notes and keep up‑to‑date case files for families.
  • Ensure all files comply with legal and organizational standards.
  • Policy compliance: monitor and enforce client compliance with visitation center policies.
  • Address any violations in a professional and timely manner.
  • Respond to threats: recognize and respond to potential safety threats for clients and staff.
  • Use conflict resolution, de‑escalation techniques, and document incidents as required.
  • Facility upkeep: assist in organizing visitation and storage rooms, sorting donations. Clean toys, disinfect spaces, restock supplies, and maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Maintain integrity in all interactions with clients and colleagues, adhering to ethical standards.
  • Commit to supporting survivors and fostering a violence‑free society.
  • Engage clients authentically while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Align practices with professional ethics, such as the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Work effectively as part of the team, collaborating across the organization.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and team activities.
  • Perform other organizational and program‑related duties as assigned.
  • Complete IM+ CANS certification, 40‑hour Domestic Violence, and other required training.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or related field (strongly preferred).
  • 3‑5 years of working with victims of domestic violence or within the criminal justice system may be considered.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
  • Familiarity with domestic violence dynamics and survivor challenges.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, case management, or advocacy.
  • Committed to supporting survivors, fostering a violence‑free, collaborative society.
  • Awareness of the unique challenges faced by diverse survivor populations.
  • Strong trauma‑informed skills, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Cultural competence and allyship for LGBTQIA and BIPOC DV survivors.
  • Effective time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and active auto insurance required.
Schedule & Working Hours
  • Facilitator

    Hours:
  • Monday to Thursday: 12:30 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Friday: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Sunday: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Flexible schedule: must work at least two shifts monthly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Total working hours: part‑time 19.5 hours per week.
  • Professional office settings and secure shelters.
  • 70% direct service commitment (60% for supervisors).
  • Active participation in 70% of staff meetings.
  • Commitment to 2–4‑hour shifts for holiday shelter coverage, as needed.
  • Travel may be required for client supply pickups, outreach, and training.
  • Occasional lifting to 20 pounds, navigating stairs, or moving across facilities. Reasonable accommodation will be provided as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly rate: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour, paid bi‑weekly (26 pay periods).
  • Compensation factors: based on grant funding, skills, experience, and expertise.
