Job Description
We are looking for a Staff Accountant for a Small Business in Round Rock to join our team! You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records for our company.
The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, ensuring accurate transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping. This role works closely with the Finance Manager and plays a key role in maintaining clean books, timely reporting, and strong internal controls.
This is a hands-on accounting role with clear ownership of core accounting functions and a defined growth path as the company scales.
Responsibilities1. Accounting Operations
- Process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions
- Prepare and post routine journal entries
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain accurate general ledger records
- Assist with month‑end close activities under management oversight
- Support job costing and gross profit tracking
- Assist with commission calculations and reporting
- Review invoices for accuracy and proper documentation
- Support revenue recognition processes as directed
- Maintain organized financial records and audit support files
- Assist with sales tax reporting and documentation
- Support year‑end close and CPA requests
- Follow established accounting policies and procedures
- Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to resolve billing or cost discrepancies
- Communicate clearly regarding invoice status, payments, and documentation needs
- Support process improvements and system cleanup projects as assigned
- Assist where needed across the company to support daily operations
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- 2–4 years of hands‑on accounting experience
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, and general ledger fundamentals
- Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books, Odoo, or similar ERP preferred)
- Detail and deadline‑oriented
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow processes and meet deadlines
