As an Accountant II, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. This position supports critical accounting functions, collaborates with cross-functional finance teams, and contributes to strategic reporting that drives informed business decisions. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you’ll leverage your expertise in financial analysis and accounting principles to maintain a complete and accurate general ledger while supporting compliance and operational excellence.
Whatyou’ ll be responsible for
- Prepare journal entries and support the monthly close process
- Analyze financial results and variances to ensure general ledger accuracy
- Perform account analyses and reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Assist in preparing financial statements and annual state reporting
- Participate in annual audits and coordinate with external auditors
- Collaborate with teams such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Regulatory, Treasury, Tax, and other back-office functions
- Provide insights on accounting and reporting matters, interpreting and analyzing financial results
- Support special projects and partner with corporate teams to improve processes and enhance efficiency
- Research and apply accounting treatments under GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory guidelines
- Perform other responsibilities and support projects as requested
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification is a plus
- 3+ years of professional accounting or finance experience; utility industry experience preferred
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Exce
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and deliver accurate results under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration
- Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is desirable
