Job Responsibilities 50% Administrative Appointment Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of the BSN program in collaboration with the Associate Dean and other leaders.
- Lead and oversee operations that support the BSN program options and sites.
- Provide faculty development in curriculum, assessment, evaluation, and pedagogy; assign teaching assignments and workload.
- Conduct annual faculty reviews and support professional development.
- Collaborate with academic leaders to oversee undergraduate academic policies.
- Ensure adequacy of physical and fiscal resources for the BSN programs.
- Provide educational consultation to faculty for course development.
- Collaborate with leaders in the College, Health Science Center, University, clinical partners, and community stakeholders.
- Assist in faculty recruitment and retention; collaborate on student enrollment, retention, completion, and licensure success initiatives.
- Partner with Student Affairs and faculty to support high‑quality recruitment, admissions, and progression.
- Prepare academic reports for accreditation bodies and system requirements.
- Monitor outcomes such as licensure exam pass rates, completion rates, employment rates, and satisfaction.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Serve as a role model for innovation, collaboration, and consensus building.
- Represent the College of Nursing on university committees and task forces.
- Serve as an ex‑officio member of other standing committees as directed by the Dean.
- Serve on the College of Nursing Executive Council.
- Address stakeholder concerns timely and professionally.
- Assume leadership in the nursing discipline and profession.
- Promote and advance the nursing profession locally, regionally, and nationally.
- Participate in professional organizations at an expected academic level.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Seek funding opportunities for academic programs.
- Participate in and lead teaching excellence to assure accreditation and national recognition.
- Implement programs and courses with mastery of didactic content and clinical education.
- Develop new courses according to curriculum and accreditation standards.
- Prepare course materials and examinations that are current and revised to improve learning.
- Teach effectively in classroom, clinical, simulation, and/or online environments.
- Select and manage quality clinical learning experiences.
- Provide competent clinical supervision of students.
- Evaluate student performance effectively.
- Advise and mentor students for academic success.
- Maintain posted office hours.
- Collaborate with and mentor faculty peers.
- Maintain clinical currency and relevant certifications.
General expectations include publications related to pedagogy or assessment, presentations on teaching and innovation, and seeking grant funding for teaching innovation.
10% ServiceAll faculty are expected to participate in service activities to the University, the College, and the profession, including committees, accreditation, advisement, and clinical practice.
Anticipated Start Date8/1/2026.
Required Education- Doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related field with a master’s degree in nursing.
- PhD in Nursing.
- Six years of related professional experience in academic nursing education.
- Leadership experience in nursing education, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Five years as a full‑time faculty member in a college offering traditional BSN education.
- Experience with nursing education accreditation and compliance with clinical agency requirements and state board regulation.
- History of leadership in nursing education that includes clinical, simulation, and classroom settings.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas or eligibility for licensure as an RN in Texas.
- Organizational skills and effective interpersonal skills for collaborative leadership.
- Ability to articulate and embody a vision for nursing education aligned with institutional mission.
- Evidence of academic scholarship, leadership capability, and teamwork with interprofessional groups.
- Effective verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
