Description

The Coordinator of Youth Ministry primarily supports the Director of Youth Ministry in guiding Middle School and High School faith formation programs, providing detailed administrative support, leading students in faith‑related activities, and supporting volunteer core teams and parish staff.
We seek a full‑time Coordinator who is a strong servant leader, creative, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, working days, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight retreats.
EssentialJob Duties
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. William Catholic Church in your professional and personal life.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling Catholic teachings.
- Grow in ministry through religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities.
- Support Youth Ministry Programs (TRIUMPH, SWYM, J‑SQUAD) with administrative tasks such as attendance recording, bookkeeping, communication with parents, paperwork for classes and retreats, purchasing snacks and supplies, and filling out payment request forms.
- Perform ministerial tasks such as leading small groups during youth sessions, giving talks at events, leading icebreakers or prayer sessions, and conducting sacramental preparation for O.C.I.A. and Confirmation.
- Assist with communication and sacramental records to parents in O.C.I.A. and Confirmation programs.
- Collaborate with faith‑formation staff and the Coordinator for Liturgy for O.C.I.A. rites.
- Build relationships with youth and families through parish, school, and community involvement.
- Ensure catechumens and candidates are properly prepared to receive sacraments with reverence and devotion.
- Support parents of youth through information, seminars, and media communication.
- Coordinate opportunities for Middle School and High School youth to develop faith in sessions beyond regular formation.
- Recruit, empower, equip, and lead volunteers.
- Participate in staff and diocesan formation gatherings.
- Manage marketing, communication, and administrative tasks for an active youth ministry.
- Engage in faith formation and parish‑wide endeavors.
- Execute youth ministry based on the USCCB document "Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry".
- Attend staff and faith‑formation meetings and Wednesday noon Mass with staff.
- Maintain daily 30‑minute prayer time.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Director or Senior Coordinator of Youth Ministry.
Skills and Abilities
- Provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious, and laity.
- Operate word‑processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
- Communicate effectively across various platforms.
- Organize and maintain data, records, and documents.
- Use social media in line with the USCCB Social Media Guidelines.
- Prioritize tasks and use effective time‑management techniques.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Follow instructions given verbally or in writing.
- Operate Microsoft Office suite and learn parish software.
- Work in a multicultural parish with diverse cultures and age groups.
- Know Roman Catholic teachings and parish structure.
- Lift up to 20 pounds.
- Education and Trainings:
- High School Diploma or GED acceptable.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited American university or equivalent elsewhere.
- Experience:
- Two (2) years of related full‑time wage‑earning experience.
- Experience in youth ministry or Middle/High School teaching preferred but not required.
- Language:
- English – proficient in speaking, reading, and writing.
- Spanish – proficient in speaking, reading, and writing (preferred).
- Catholic Requirement:
Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing. - Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies.
- All parish employees engage in ministry closely tied to the Pastor’s ministry.
- The parish is an at‑will employer.
- All buildings and vehicles are tobacco free.
- Work is fast‑paced with changing priorities and plans.
- Work may require weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
- Exposure to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Catholic prayer and liturgical celebrations.
- Adherence to established dress codes and conduct standards required.
- Use of personal or parish vehicle may be necessary for off‑site locations.
- Travel within and outside the parish to meetings and events may be required, including overnight lodging.
