Education / Teaching
Important Note
This position requires in-person attendance at our Austin, Texas campus.
Traditional schools focus on teaching students what to think. This position focuses on teaching them how to execute.
Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different high school—one where students don't passively absorb lectures or commit facts to memory. Instead, they build, ship, communicate, and scale. They launch projects, validate hypotheses, and cultivate real‑world competencies that most adults never acquire.
Your responsibility is to ensure they not only attempt these tasks but excel at them.
You will engage directly with high school students as they launch businesses, manage projects, and cultivate the confidence, communication skills, and capabilities necessary for post‑graduation success. Theory is not your domain. Your domain is coaching execution. You will establish rigorous standards, maintain accountability, and drive students to produce work that meets real‑world criteria. As the program expands, your impact scales with it;
your workshops integrate into the school's core operations, and the students you mentor become living validation of this educational model.
This position is designed for individuals who have accomplished something substantive beyond academic settings—whether building a product, cultivating an audience, operating within a startup, or delivering results in demanding environments—and wish to channel that expertise into developing the next generation. If you seek a conventional teaching position, look elsewhere. If you aim to influence how driven teenagers think, behave, and perform, this is your opportunity.
If you have achieved tangible results in your career and want to dedicate your time to elevating motivated teenagers toward their full potential, this is your platform.
What You Will Be Doing- Create and facilitate practical workshops (40% of your week) covering subjects including entrepreneurship, financial literacy, personal branding, and other applied domains; leveraging your own professional background
- Provide 1:1 coaching to students (60% of your week) as they navigate real projects across specific domains—businesses, marketing initiatives, and software products—using strategic questioning to identify obstacles and drive quantifiable advancement
- Maintain elevated standards for confidence, communication, and capability; intervening when performance declines and establishing concrete commitments during each session
- Train students in the effective use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) for content generation, refinement, and efficiency
- Maintain transparent communication with students and parents regarding progress, deficiencies, and action items
- Conducting conventional lectures or teaching from prescribed curricula
- Evaluating large volumes of homework or emphasizing abstract knowledge
- Coddling disengaged students or compromising standards to preserve comfort
- Functioning within a sluggish, bureaucratic educational institution
