Alpha seeks a guide who can build small‑group reading workshops and deliver motivation sessions that help all students reach their adaptive‑app targets. You must have deep structured‑literacy expertise and a passion for engaging K‑2 learners in a dynamic, engaging classroom environment.
What You Will Be Doing- Build and facilitate small‑group K‑2 reading workshops rooted in structured‑literacy approaches (Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent), informed by live student data.
- Run daily motivation sessions designed to propel 100 % of students toward their weekly adaptive‑app targets, using Alpha’s motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age‑appropriate game mechanics).
- Conduct and evaluate running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments to monitor progress and refine subsequent instruction.
- Analyze AI‑generated performance insights from Alpha’s adaptive learning platforms to differentiate instruction in the moment, not solely during planning time.
- Serve as the approachable, enthusiastic adult that K‑2 students are excited to see each day.
- Implement a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson sequence, or district pacing calendar; you create lessons driven by student data.
- Deliver whole‑group lectures; all teaching occurs in targeted small groups while students complete academic subjects through adaptive platforms.
- Serve as a reading consultant, instructional coach, or district‑level specialist; you work directly with children in the classroom daily.
- Manage a traditional classroom schedule—subject‑by‑subject lectures, homework review, test preparation; your time is structured around workshops, motivation sessions, and data‑informed small groups.
- Grade homework or prepare report cards; student growth is tracked in app data and your running records.
Provide structured‑literacy instruction that produces measurable acceleration in K‑2 reading performance across phonics, fluency, and decoding.
Basic Requirements- Structured‑literacy certification (Orton‑Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a master’s degree in reading instruction.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline plus 2+ years of full‑time K‑2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment, using systematic phonics or structured literacy.
- Proven ability to create your own reading lessons and clearly explain what you teach and how, without depending on a published program.
- Willingness to work on‑site full‑time at one Alpha campus (Austin, Fort Worth, Houston (South Houston or The Woodlands), Plano, TX;
Phoenix, AZ;
Nashville, TN;
Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK;
Park City (Salt Lake City), UT; or Dorado, Puerto Rico). - Willingness to work with all K‑2 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and to incorporate AI and adaptive‑learning platforms into daily instruction.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. or Puerto Rico without visa sponsorship.
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency required for the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus.
- Direct experience with AI‑powered or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i‑Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or student data interpretation.
- Documented reading outcomes (fluency gains in WCPM, accuracy improvement, decoding level advancement) with specific numbers you can reference.
- Experience in non‑traditional or innovative school settings (charter, micro‑school, Montessori, hybrid).
- Experience performing, coaching youth sports, or engaging a K‑2 audience outside the reading classroom.
