Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Employment is via an independent contractor agreement with Crossover.
As a Mentor at GT School, you are responsible for continually raising academic and personal standards for a cohort of 15–20 gifted K‑12 learners. Your day-to-day activities include:
- Facilitating one‑hour life‑skills workshops on public speaking, focus, and feedback using GT School’s curriculum alongside your own expertise.
- Conducting personalized motivation sessions, leveraging Coachbot analytics to monitor each student’s progress in learning applications.

Pass mastery‑based assessments to verify skill acquisition. - Adjusting delivery dynamically through storytelling, earned authority, and AI‑driven instruction to maintain engagement and challenge for gifted learners.
- Monitoring progress toward 100% goal‑completion and 95% student satisfaction targets.
- Managing a conventional classroom or grading assignments.
- Preparing report cards or handling typical administrative burdens of standard teaching.
- Teaching toward standardized tests or external assessment requirements.
- Simplifying content – students are expected to engage with full complexity.
- Working with disengaged or average‑paced learners.
Mentor a cohort of gifted K‑12 learners to develop essential life skills and advance academically through individualized, high‑expectation coaching.
Basic Requirements- Willingness to work on‑site in Austin (Georgetown), TX.
- Bachelor’s degree from a top‑tier institution (Ivy League or equivalent).
- Proven record of academic distinction (e.g., National Merit Finalist, academic Olympiad medalist, or early college graduation).
- At least three years of experience mentoring, coaching, or teaching students.
- At least one elite academic credential: prestigious fellowship or scholarship (Rhodes, Fulbright, NSF GRFP, Gates), PhD, Mensa or Triple Nine Society membership, or university‑level teaching experience.
- Daily self‑reported use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
- Master’s degree from a top‑ranked research institution.
- Experience as a participant or coach in competitive academic programs (MATHCOUNTS, Science Olympiad, national debate, or equivalent).
- Track record coaching high‑performing students toward elite achievements (college admissions, fellowship applications, competitive exams).
- Background in cognitive science, educational psychology, or gifted and talented (GT) education.
