Position: Senior Transportation Engineer (PE)

Our client, a respected and growing multidisciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Transportation Project Manager to lead the design and delivery of roadway and drainage projects across public infrastructure markets. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take ownership of complex projects, mentor & manage staff, and contribute to the growth of a strong transportation practice.

This role is ideal for someone who combines technical expertise with project leadership and enjoys collaborating with clients, agencies, and internal design teams to bring infrastructure projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver transportation engineering projects involving roadway design, drainage systems, intersections, and civil infrastructure improvements.
  • Lead projects through planning, design, permitting, bid, and construction support phases.
  • Oversee project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing, and deliverables.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, EITs, and CAD designers.
  • Coordinate with clients, municipalities, agencies, and subconsultants throughout project execution.
  • Support permitting and agency approvals with state DOTs and local jurisdictions.
  • Participate in construction administration including field visits, submittal reviews, and progress meetings.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Support client management and contribute to business development efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • ~Ten (10+) or more years of transportation engineering experience
  • Experience in roadway and drainage design
  • Proven success managing projects, budgets, schedules, and technical teams
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience with DOT and municipal transportation projects
  • Familiarity with roadway geometry, hydrology/hydraulics, and stormwater design
  • Background preparing technical specifications and construction documents
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and leading multidisciplinary teams
