Hardware Design Engineer - Functional Safety

Our client, an industrial automation and process control technology organization, is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer - Functional Safety to join their team.
As a Hardware Design Engineer - Functional Safety, you will be part of the engineering organization supporting the design and certification of safety-critical electronic systems. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to handle risk, and a collaborative mindset, which will align successfully within the organization.
Job Title: Hardware Design Engineer - Functional Safety
Location: Round Rock TX
Pay Range: $77/hr

What's the Job?

• Lead the design, development, and validation of complex, mixed-signal electronic hardware systems that comply with Functional Safety requirements.
• Perform hardware safety analysis, including FMEDA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), to ensure fault-tolerant designs.
• Define safety requirements, hazard analysis, and risk assessments in accordance with industry standards such as IEC 61508.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware, systems, and reliability engineers, to deliver safety-critical products.
• Support certification activities by working with regulatory and certification bodies to demonstrate compliance.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering (or related STEM degree) with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 7+ years.
• Strong knowledge of Functional Safety standards and safety-critical electronic system design.
• Proficiency in hardware safety analysis methods, including FMEDA and FTA.
• Hands-on experience with EMC, thermal, and environmental testing for safety-critical systems.
• Expertise in PCB design tools and simulation tools.
