Staff Engineer, Hardware System Test

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Electronic, or Computer Engineering
• 8+ years of experience in hardware system testing or validation
• Strong system-level understanding across mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware, and software integrations
• Proven experience developing and executing system-level test strategies/frameworks
• Experience working with firmware and software teams on system integration
• Strong knowledge of test methodologies, validation practices, and defect management
• Experience with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, USB)
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis across multi-domain systems
• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and simulation environments
• Experience with test automation frameworks (Python, LabVIEW, etc.)
• Background with electromechanical systems or industrial equipment
• Knowledge of regulatory/certification standards (EMC, UL, safety, PCI)
• Experience incorporating field issues into validation improvements
• Familiarity with engineering lifecycle processes (NPI, DFMEA, stage-gate)
• Experience working in global engineering environments

• Define and lead system-level testing strategies across hardware products
• Develop test frameworks validating interactions between hardware, firmware, and software
• Create system integration test plans, coverage matrices, and validation methodologies
• Collaborate with Software QA, firmware, electronics, and systems engineering teams
• Identify gaps in test coverage and implement improvements
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of system-level issues
• Drive automation strategies including hardware-in-the-loop testing
• Support development of test environments and validation setups
• Track system-level quality metrics and KPIs
• Participate in architecture and design reviews to ensure testability
• Mentor QA engineers and test technicians
• Collaborate with product, operations, and support teams
