Responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates for fire sprinkler installation, retrofit, and service projects; analyzes plans and specifications, performs material take-offs, solicits vendor quotes, and prepares proposals that support competitive bidding and profitable project execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine scope and requirements for fire sprinkler systems.
Prepare detailed material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
Perform hydraulic calculations and identify required system components.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for materials and specialized services.
Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and codes.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to develop accurate and competitive pricing strategies.
Maintain current knowledge of NFPA standards, building codes, and industry practices.
Update and maintain cost databases, historical data, and estimating templates.
Participate in project turnover meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to operations.
Assist in value engineering and alternate design suggestions to improve project cost efficiency.
Education and/or Experience 3–7 years of experience estimating fire sprinkler or fire protection systems; strong understanding of NFPA standards and applicable building/fire codes; ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications; strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).Physical Demands Work is performed in both office and field environments. In office required to sit for extended periods, use hands to operate computers and standard office equipment; communicate effectively by phone and email;
While visiting job sites, walk, stand, climb stairs or ladders, bend, stoop, and navigate uneven surfaces; lift up to 25–30 pounds; visual acuity required to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and perform detailed inspections; may occasionally be exposed to varying weather conditions, dust, or noise while on job sites.
