Transmission Line Engineer IV – RRC Power and Energy

Location:

Round Rock Headquarters, RRC Power and Energy – Round Rock, TX 78681. Position Type:
Full Time.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level guidance of transmission line engineering and project management principles to carry out project tasks while working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range; review and approve designs created by peers.
  • Ensure designs meet project specifications and company quality standards.
  • Champion consistent application and compliance with industry standards, codes, and engineering guidelines throughout all stages of transmission line projects.
  • Contribute to the creation, improvement, and implementation of internal design procedures and standards.
  • Mentor and train engineering team members, sharing technical expertise and supporting professional development.
  • Review and approve all project models and documentation; serve as Responsible in Charge.
  • Perform value engineering design analyses to determine the most cost-competitive design.
  • Participate in project site visits as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Civil/Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related transmission line engineering experience.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the US.
  • Proficiency in using PLS-CADD for designing transmission lines.
  • Strong knowledge of design codes, standards, and guidelines such as NESC, RUS, IEEE, ASCE7, ASCE
    48, ASCE
    74, AISC, and ACI
    318.
  • Prior experience in foundation design using FAD Tools and/or LPile.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and thrive in a dynamic, evolving, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience collaborating with project stakeholders including SMEs, clients, vendors, contractors.
  • Highly organized to manage detailed project information and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word; able to analyze and communicate design information.
  • Willing to travel to project locations for short durations (typically one to two days per trip) in Canada or the U.S.
  • Authorized for full-time work in Canada or the United States.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers and designers in completing multiple projects concurrently and ensuring company quality standards preferred.
  • Experience with transmission line voltages at 500kV and above preferred.
  • Experience with underground medium to extra high voltage line designs preferred.
  • Experience with transmission line electrical studies (EMF, insulation coordination, lightning protection, corona effects, etc.) preferred.
  • Proficiency in PLS-TOWER preferred.
  • Experience in developing engineering proposals and cost estimates preferred.
  • Experience in testing specifications preferred.
