EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture economics, finance, business administration, or other related business field
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in banking or financial services involving credit extension, credit underwriting, analysis of commercial and capital markets portfolios.
- Comprehensive knowledge of lending, structuring and market pricing concepts and principles.
- Performs complex tasks typically following established processes.
JOB SUMMARY
The Portfolio Manager provides relationship management and credit support to Relationship Managers, including origination, structuring, execution, and monitoring of Capital Markets transactions. Responsible for working with the Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts on associated internal credit, research, and financial modeling functions. Supports the achievement of profitability and credit goals for the division through day-to-day management of account relationships.
The Portfolio Manager supports overall lending relationships of Relationship Managers in the Capital Markets sector. Manages a portfolio of purchased and directly-originated sold loans as the secondary officer, which includes coordination of the Credit underwriting team and Relationship Managers. Responsibilities include review of supporting credit underwriting team's work, preparing and managing loan modification/amendment requests, term conversion, legal document review, reviewing and processing fixed rate conversion requests, interfacing with partners (Farm Credit and Commercial Bank partners), interfacing with internal stakeholders, including Risk, Credit Approvals, Capital Markets, and Legal.
Originates and executes new business in coordination with Relationship Managers. Responsibilities include, preparing pitch materials, initial deal screening and risk analysis, preparing pre-screening memos, performing and managing due diligence activities, industry and market analysis, preparing and/or reviewing cash flow project finance models, closing activities including commitment letters and participation certificate drafting and/or review, and assisting in the review of other financial products, such as interest rate hedging and letter of credit issuances.
Collaborates closely with credit underwriting team, RLT teams, and Capital Markets team to support the design, structure, and pitch for lead opportunities. Recommends credit decisions as appropriate. Manages the overall profitability and credit quality of a large and complex loan portfolio.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Independently manages the day-to-day activity of an assigned portfolio of loan transactions with a mix of new and existing accounts. This includes direct partner communication(s), as necessary.
