Job Summary and QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direct patient care, applying sound physics to assist with diagnosis. Perform sonographic imaging and related procedures in all applications of ultrasound. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and /or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements to age-specific needs.
Participates in providing patient-specific care standards as directed and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Responsibilities
- Consistently produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric, adhering to established scanning and operational protocols
- Operate the Ultrasound equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively
- Complete diagnostic quality scans in a timely manner;
Continuously triage incoming orders and modify workflow to prioritize STAT and urgent demands - Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute & technically challenging patients;
Possess skills to modify positioning and scanning parameters as needed to ensure diagnostic accuracy - Possess in-depth knowledge of human anatomy, pathology, and image optimization to provide diagnostic information necessary for diagnosis; communicate preliminary findings and relevant patient information to the Radiologist
- Cross-collaboration with other departments to coordinate procedures
- Assist physicians with performing invasive exams according to departmental guidelines;
Knowledge of biopsy and procedural supplies, including associated charges - Assist with procedures in the OR
- Review written orders, assess patient identification, and ensure indications are appropriate prior to procedures
- Ensure that procedure rooms are clean, stocked, and communicate when supplies need to be ordered
- Accurately perform and document high-level disinfection on transvaginal transducers according to policy
- Cover on-call shifts on a rotating basis;
Arrive at facility within 30 minutes of receipt of call - Accept direction and constructive feedback in a positive and professional manner
- Maintain working knowledge and adherence to all SAMC Hospital codes, policies, values, standards, and mandatory education
- Conduct must reflect the Company’s values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct ethics and compliance program.
