Electro-Mechanical Test Technician
Join a highly innovative team that is building next-generation electric motors for data centers. As an Electro-Mechanical Test Technician, you will support the development and validation of advanced electric motor technology by performing hands-on mechanical work, assembling test stands, and conducting electromechanical tests in a clean, modern lab environment. You will start with general mechanical projects in the shop and lab and grow into running and monitoring tests on dynamo meters and performing detailed electromechanical functionality testing.
Responsibilities- Perform testing of electric motors, including electromechanical functionality tests, according to established procedures and engineering guidance.
- Run and monitor tests on dynamo meters (dynos), ensuring accurate setup, safe operation, and thorough documentation of test results.
- Support general mechanical projects in the shop and lab, contributing to the build, modification, and maintenance of test equipment and fixtures.
- Assemble test stands and related fixtures using hand and power tools, following multi-step mechanical assembly processes.
- Use hand and power tools to assemble products and devices that involve multiple steps, ensuring proper fit, function, and quality.
- Handle electro-mechanical equipment during test setup, operation, and teardown, maintaining a high level of care and safety.
- Document test procedures, setups, and results with strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate records for engineering and quality teams.
- Work with a small team of manufacturing and test technicians, collaborating effectively while also operating independently when needed.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and proactively identify what needs to be done next, even when work instructions are not fully defined.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the shop and lab, including proper storage and care of tools and test equipment.
- Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as needed for assembly, test setup, and equipment handling.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by providing feedback on test processes, fixtures, and workflows, particularly in a start-up or R&D environment.
- 2+ years of electromechanical device or equipment testing experience.
- 1–2+ years of experience using hand and power tools to assemble a product or device involving multiple steps.
- Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical assembly.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as part of routine duties.
- Strong attention to detail when assembling, testing, and documenting work.
- High initiative and an ownership mindset, with the ability to work effectively without fully defined work instructions.
- Comfort working with electro-mechanical equipment in a lab or shop environment.
- Mechanically inclined, with a solid understanding of basic mechanical principles and assembly practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a start-up or R&D environment where processes are evolving and require proactive problem-solving.
- PCB debug or electronic component rework experience.
- Soldering experience on electronic components or assemblies.
- Experience working with electric motors, particularly in testing or assembly contexts.
- Foresight to anticipate next steps and needs in test and assembly work without step-by-step direction.
