Job Summary

As a Postpartum Registered Nurse, you will educate and assist new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the postpartum period. You will provide education on newborn care, support mothers through recovery, and collaborate with the Mother‑Baby Unit staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on mothers and newborns following standards of care and disease‑specific protocols.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Provide direct nursing care and supervise non‑licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
  • Provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance; recognize and respond to symptoms such as postpartum depression.
Qualifications
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • 1 year of acute care experience (preferred).
Education
  • Associate’s Degree of Nursing.
  • BSN (preferred).
Licenses & Certifications
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license required within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • RNC‑OB certification (preferred).
