The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on an assigned unit in a safe and proficient manner according to individual patient needs. Provides direct patient care based upon South Austin Medical Center Hospital Standards of Care and Standards of Practice, Policies, Procedures and Practice Guidelines. Provides guidance and supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Unit Secretaries.

Acts as patient advocate within the hospital environment. Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities and accepts assignments on other units when necessary.

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive patient care on an assigned unit.
• Provide direct patient care based on hospital standards and guidelines.
• Offer guidance and supervision to LVN, Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Unit Secretaries.
• Act as patient advocate within the hospital environment.
• Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities and accept assignments on other units when necessary.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• NIH Stroke Scale – must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN license – must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• No travel required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ nursing experience.
