Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Round Rock location. This PRN position will work between 0-19 hours per week with regular hours of Monday - Friday 8am-5pm, no weekends, call, or major holidays. This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assesses health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
- Provides psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, labs, protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
- Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
- Facilitates clinical operations and patient care.
- Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart.
- Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient s chart.
- Assists patients in locating available community resources.
The ideal candidate for the PRN Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience:
- Level 1:
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology/infusion.
- Level 2 (in addition to Level 1 requirements):
- 3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred.
- Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and 2 requirements):
- Five years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology preferred.
