Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager Medical Surgical to join our team. As the Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care by overseeing the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring and evaluating the provision of nursing care, enforcing adherence to standards of care, and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency.
Responsibilities- Create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to standards of care and support efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost.
- Establish a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.
- Support the achievement of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Regularly perform equipment maintenance in accordance with regulatory and/or accreditation standards.
- Manage admissions and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and patient-centered care.
- Facilitate effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments.
- Assign staff with appropriate clinical competencies to meet patient care needs.
- Manage nursing practice and unit operations, evaluating the provision of nursing care to ensure patient and family needs are assessed and met.
- Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience.
- Instill accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader.
- Review feedback mechanisms and identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction. Support the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
- Leverage feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve patient satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with evidence-based practices that enhance patient experience and customer service.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and other leaders to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
- Support a patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery when necessary.
- Manage staff scheduling and maintain staffing in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
- Manage operating expenses, including the utilization of supplies and equipment. Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement actions to achieve savings.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse with a valid license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Minimum of 1 year of unit leadership experience (charge, supervisor, coordinator).
- 82 beds across 3 med-surg units (Post-op, medical-surgical, and oncology).
- BSN required, MS preferred.
- 100 FTE when fully staffed.
- Some flexibility in shift hours (3-11 pm).
- Maximum salary: $130,000.
