St. David's Medical Center in Austin seeks a Registered Nurse for Preadmission Testing to support safe, high-quality surgical care. In this on-site role, you'll complete detailed preadmission assessments, review labs and diagnostics, reconcile medications, and identify risk factors to optimize patients for surgery. You will educate patients and families on pre- and post-procedure care, collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams, and document thoroughly in the EMR.

- Conduct comprehensive preadmission assessments and histories for surgical and procedural patients
- Review labs, diagnostics, medications, and allergies to identify risks and coordinate care plans
- Educate patients and families on pre- and post-procedure instructions, medications, and expectations
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient readiness
- Document assessments, care plans, and communications accurately in the EMR
- Escalate abnormal findings and coordinate follow-up testing or consultations as needed
- Adhere to evidence-based nursing practice, safety, and infection control standards
- Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing clinical education
