Position Title Affiliate Instructor Pool

The St. David’s School of Nursing seeks to develop a pool of candidates to serve as Affiliate Instructors in our undergraduate program.
Affiliate Instructors are appointed to provide supervision of student clinical learning experiences, including but not limited to instruction of procedures, health assessments, and administration of medications. Affiliate Instructors may only perform supervision when a qualified and experienced faculty member is physically present. Supervision of clinical learning experiences must follow appropriate professional regulatory board rules and regulations.
Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester-by-semester basis. Eligibility for reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental/school/program needs.
Please note that this posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool faculty position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration should a need arise.
This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited baccalaureate program in nursing.
- Have the clinical expertise to function effectively and safely in the designated area of teaching. (Recent graduates must have worked at least one year as a full-time RN, or equivalent, under direct supervision of an RN.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of work experience as a registered nurse in the area designated to teach.
- Holding a Master of Science degree in nursing (MSN).
- Certification in an area of practice specialty, expertise in a focused area of nursing practice (such as OB, pediatrics, adult acute care, emergency department, etc.).
- Unofficial Transcripts (all in one document).
- Licensure and /or Certifications.
- Contact information for two references, including 1 letter of recommendation.
