Traffic Signal Technician – Senior
Under general supervision the Traffic Signal Technician – Senior position installs and maintains traffic signals in a manner that provides for efficient traffic flow throughout the city. Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electronically controlled traffic control devices; responds to emergency situations regarding signals, flashers; assists in training signal crew members. Work is performed with limited supervision.
Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
Examples of duties include serving as a lead technician to traffic signal technicians, performing traffic signal maintenance and repair, utilizing Advance Traffic Management System (ATMS) software, assisting in Traffic Management Center as needed, and monitoring the safety of all workers.
Experience and training required include graduation from high school or GED equivalent, two (2) years experience in construction, electrical, traffic signal maintenance, or a closely related field, knowledge of traffic signal software and systems, and possession of a Class A Commercial Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Certificates and licenses required include I.M.S.A. Traffic Signal Level III Certification preferred, possession of I.M.S.A. Work Zone Certification or equivalent, or ability to obtain in 6 months, not to exceed 12 months, and possession of I.M.S.A. Traffic Signal Technician Level II Certification or ability to obtain in 6 months, not to exceed 12 months.
